The Flexibility Behind Mach1's Spatial Audio Format

Mach1, a sound technology and IP development studio focused on VR, AR and the creator of the Mach1 spatial audio playback format, was in the news lately, as they were honored at the Advanced Imaging Society’s 2018 Lumiere Tech Awards just before the new year.

Mach1’s spatial audio workflow tools (included in their SDK) are incredibly flexible considering the lack of resources available for spatial audio and allow you to work in your preferred DAW to produce true spatial audio mixes

Mach1’s SDK allows users to safely convert surround/spatial audio mixes to and from the Mach1Spatial or Mach1Horizon VVBP formats in addition to including APIs which

“allow developers to design applications that can encode or pan to a spatial audio render from audio streams and/or playback and decode Mach1Spatial 8channel spatial audio mixes with orientation to decode the correct stereo output sum of the user's current orientation. “

The amount of formats the platform already supports is mind-boggling.

As of Summer 2017, Mach1 & Samsung teamed up to bring mach1 spatial audio format to Samsung VR. This is huge and i’m excited to see how it evolves.
